Title:  Best Infection Prevention Products

Newsweek, in partnership with The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit that evaluates health care quality, compiled a list which highlights the best infection prevention products.  These products were found to be the most promising for helping patients and the health care workforce avoid infection.  Altapure is included in this list.

To decide which products would make this list, the selection committee evaluated each product using 4 criteria: effectiveness, safety (to both patients and health care workers), successful real-world implementation, and the stability of the company (to support future implementations).

Research Paper – Disinfection Cabinet For Successful N95 Mask Disinfection

Date:  April 20, 2020
Journal:  Pathogens and Immunity
Journal Link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/32363254

A study was performed by Cadnum et al, including Dr Curtis Donskey, that showed that Altpure’s new disinfection cabinet, the MPDC-1, can successfully disinfect and decontaminate N95 masks contaminated with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes COVID-19 disease, as well as C difficil spores and MRSA.

UV-C light was also tested and failed the same test and should NOT be relied upon to render N95 masks safe, disinfected, or decontaminated.

Altapure Resolves Lawsuit Against Surfacide UV Light Company In Federal Court, Forcing Surfacide To Remove Its False Marketing Claims From Its Website & Sales Materials

Date:  April 20, 2020
News Type:  Legal News

ALTAPURE SUCCESSFULLY RESOLVES ITS SUIT AGAINST SURFACIDE, LLC FORCING THE COMPANY TO REMOVE ALL OF ITS FALSE MARKETING CLAIMS FROM ITS WEBSITE AND SALES MATERIALS.

(Mequon, WI) During the discovery proceedings, and after the oral depositions of Jeff Veehuis and Adam Buchakian and half way through the deposition of Gunner Lylso, Surfacide abruptly agreed to remove all of its false and misleading statements regarding its UV light technology. It was patently obvious that executives and managers of Surfacide are not educated in the field of infection control or the supporting sciences. The depositions confirmed that UV light products are extremely limited to those surfaces in line of sight and with the effective distance from the light source. Further, despite the use of three emitters, shadowing remains a clear deficiency prohibiting the technology from obtaining a complete kill on all surfaces in a treated space.

In as much publicized study in the Journal of Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology, September 2018, Vol. 39, a study group at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center concluded, ”Utilization of UV disinfection to supplement routine terminal cleaning of rooms was not effective in reducing hospital acquired VRE and C. difficile among SCT recipients”. These results are similar to other published studies.

None of the UV light products have been shown to be able to meet the performance standards imposed on all chemical products, when claiming the ability to disinfect and/or sterilize, by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It is the “wild west” for the UV light industry because there has been no Federal Agency that has asserted supervisory jurisdiction over these products.

THE ALTAPURE HIGH-LEVEL DISINFECTION SYSTEMS (HLDS) ARE NOT EFFECTED BY SHADOWING OR DISTANCE.
